Candle of the Month: Blackberry Sage

Imagine the wonderful taste and scent of blackberry jam combined with the herbal scent of Sage! It was once believed that if you eat Sage you would become wiser and even immortal! Sage was used at weddings to bring about a long life and domestic virtue for the happy couple. Sage is considered a purifier and is often used as a main ingredient in "Smudge-sticks" and "herb bundles” to purify a house of unwanted and negative energy!

New Upgrades to the Website

The Home Page is now a full color picture of all products. We added a Crafter's Corner to your back office. On the Company Page there is a new company story and when you look at the Business Opportunity page you'll find that there is a brand new “Entrepreneur's message” that leads you into a brand new page that features all of the “hot buttons” that we talk about in our weekly business opportunity calls! This is a must read for anyone who really wants to know about the “market” that we represent!

We changed some of the background colors and we changed some of the fonts so the type is easier to read. You'll also notice the gray background has been replaced by muted colors for a more stylish look.

Under fundraising documents in the back office we added a 2 new documents you can use when approaching a fundraising group (thanks to Shelly Edwards and Diane Stracke, Diamond Distributors in Missouri).

The new database software is being installed, which will lead to other changes on the website. Some of these changes include an entirely new back office, more reports & functions for distributors, and online ordering. It will take some time as most of our current code needs to be changed into an entirely different programming language in order for it to work with the new software. All of this will be completed in the near future.

Missouri Distributor, Donna Sexton, Uses “Crafty” New Presentation Tool!“

the sexton's“Hello, My name is Donna Sexton and my husband Craig and I have been with Scent-Sations Inc since Feb. 2004 and we are loving every minute of it!

Craig and I (and occasionally our daughter, Ashley) work craft fairs just about every weekend in the spring, summer and fall in order to promote our candle business. We both work full-time and do this in hopes to someday be able to quit our J.O.B.'s.

We love Mia Bella candles and are always looking for new ways to promote them. We not only sell candles and soy soaps at craft fairs, but we are always trying to find crafty ideas to add to our business. We go to local variety/thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets to find things such as candle holders to sell with the votives, we look for planters, silk flowers and green foliage in order to make our floral arrangements, which always include one or two of our votive roses. It is always a lot of fun looking for new, used and unique things to use in our business. When I make the votive roses, I put some dried babies breath with them in a cello bag and it looks like the bags you get real roses in. These have been a big hit for us.

I shared my pictures of my arrangements and craft booth displays with my up line, Shellie Edwards who encouraged me to forward them on to Scent-Sations to share with everyone else. I sent him the pictures via a slide show presentation using a program on my computer called Photo Show.

I did not buy this program; it came with my new computer and it is really easy to use. You simply scan pictures in or just download your photos from you camera. There is a 15 day trial web address: http://www.simplestar.com/site_html/photoshow_trial.php.

I encourage you to take pictures of your work and at your fairs. You can share them with your customers and your business team and it shows them just how much fun and easy this business is to do. Let your imagination run wild and you will be surprised at how many things you can come up with. You will notice on the slide show our craft table displays. The main idea is to keep it simple, however we are always changing it per venue and by which mood we are in. That's just the way we are! Always searching for new ideas and ways to promote the best candle we have ever smelled!”
-Donna Sexton

Donna sent this over via email & we just had to share it with everyone in the field!

Using "Bella Wear" to Make Money & Sponsor New Team Members

bob schmitz and jenelle price“I work at the Ground Round in Wilkes-Barre, PA where I met Bob Schmitz. He came into the restaurant and I noticed his “Mia Bella Soy Candles Golf Shirt.” When I went to take his order I said “My mom burns those candles all the time and she loves them.”

Bob gave me this big smile and then started asking me some questions about myself and then he said “Did you know that there is some serious money to be made with these candles!” Then he said “Do you know any one who might like to make some serious money with us working from their home?”

I said “ME!”

I took a short break and sat with Bob as he ate and he showed me an overview of the Scent-Sations business opportunity. He focused a lot of attention on how the program allowed me to make excellent money simply by selling the candles for retail profits!

I told Bob about an upcoming wedding shower that I was attending and he mentioned that it would be a great place to introduce my new candle business. I signed into the Candle of the Month Program, bought some cases of candles and a case of Bella Buns. I sold them all!”
-Jenelle Price, PA

We strongly encourage all of our distributors to “wear your business” and we offer high quality t-shirts, golf shirts, sweat shirts and long sleeve t-shirts all year long!

Car Magnets Attracting Business

“My oldest daughter, Jessica, and I took my 6 year old son, Samuel, to a birthday party at the skating rink. We were running a little late and had to stop for gas. When Jessica pulled into the gas station, the owner, some employees, and a few of their family members were standing outside. When Jessie opened her door to pump the gas, one of the ladies was standing by her door and asked if we had any of those candles to show them.

Jessie smiled and turned to me. I handed her the candles to give the lady, and she took them to show her mother. The mother bought my last Mid Summer's Eve, an Apple Cinnamon (both jar candles), and a votive rose. This was all because of the magnet signs. We would not have stopped to approach them because we were running late. I guess God had other plans for us.

.When we were leaving the skating rink later that day, an elderly lady sitting in the vehicle beside us asked about the fundraising that was mentioned on my magnetic sign. She is always looking for different fundraiser's to do with the retirement center. So, of course, we started doing our "Smell and Sell" routine. Sold 2 more jar candles, and I gave the lady a fundraising packet.

We then went to Wal-Mart to pick up some flowers for my husband. As we were leaving, we noticed the Anderson County Foster Parent Association was raffling off a $16,000 pool for $5 a ticket. I purchased one. I wasn't going to say anything about the fundraiser, but Jessie said “why not.?”

So, we went over and talked to them about the fundraiser and we let them pick out a votive. They were very excited about the potential for our product!

This is my testimony about the power of magnetic signs coupled with the smell and sell demo. My family and I love this low key method of doing business!”

Great Fundraising Stories

Charlene Mesaris, PA is the owner of Char & Company, Hand & Body Care Salon (and a Scent-Sations distributor). She sold a fundraiser idea to a local Cheerleading group.

“I went to a person who was in charge of the cheerleading group and showed her the “bottom line." I simply showed her the quality of the candles and then showed her the “numbers” (her cost vs her profits per candles sold). She got excited about that and “booked us” for the next fundraising event. I also offered incentive “spa certificates” to the top producers. I believe that by giving incentives you will always motivate the go-getters to do more than usual!”

Ashley and Adam DiLauro, OH are two teenagers who are also “top gun” distributors for Scent-Sations! They are in the top 10 retailers this month and one of the big reasons is because they take advantage of fundraising!

“Adam started a “Play to Pay” fundraiser for his high school soccer team which is ongoing all summer. The players love doing it because it is such an easy sale and it really helps them defray their costs to play a sport that they love!” says Ashley.

Marie Hunsinger, PA. “My kids play Little League and I approached the parents who are in charge of the League and told them about how we could make money selling candles! They loved the idea and the fundraiser went beautifully!”

Renee & David Manzi are Top Gun Retailers Month After Month!

“Everyone knows the old expression that "everything happens for a reason", right? Well, finding Scent-Sations made me realize how true that old cliche' really is.

I am originally from sunny, South Florida and my "now husband" David brought me out to Las Vegas to live with him. That is a whole other leap of faith altogether, as we met online playing backgammon...go figure!!!

I graduated from the University of South Florida, with a degree in Psychology. Everyone said, "what on earth are you going to do with that degree?" Well, I found out at a young age that my niche was sales, training and public relations. I worked for several years at a private consulting firm in Boca Raton, FL, helping small AND large companies increase their sales volume. Be it the staff, the management, the way the store was set up, etc...my partner and I jumped in and saved the day. When I moved out here, I did the same for my husband's business...until the dreaded day that I was in such excruciating pain that I had to go to the doctor in a bad way. Unfortunately, it ended up being a chronic illness and I was left, unable to work and totally depressed.

Then, one day, I opened up the new candle that my mother-in-law "to be" gave me. It was a “Strawberry Kiwi” Soy candle and it peaked my curiosity. As I opened the package, a brochure fell out about becoming a distributor for Scent-Sations. I didn't pay much attention to it at first, because the thought of working, at all, didn't appeal to me.

A week or two later, I took another look at the same brochure that I tucked away "for a rainy day". I read the back of it, and it said "be your own boss", "work from home", and I called up Nancy Bowery to sign me up. My husband didn't want me to do it at first, so I cancelled with Nancy. Then, he too fell in love with the Strawberry Kiwi Jar and votives. He told me to call Nancy back and sign up.

Well, not only did I sign up, but I've sponsored 10 people into the business! This is just the beginning for me and David, because we have big goals and tons of motivation. We ended up buying Nancy's booth at the swap meet about five months ago, and it all started from one candle. I, now, have something to look forward to every day, and I don't even have to leave the house! I am still fighting the good fight with my illness, but I know that I will always be extremely thankful to have found such a WONDERFUL company, with such WONDERFUL people(and a WONDERFUL husband to share the journey with).

"Top Gun Texans"

Texas is one of our fastest growing states and its because of distributors like Todd & Rhonda Precord: “I first heard of Mia Bella candles from Julie and Curtis Nielsen. They had sold a candle to a salesman at the furniture store where I work (French Vanilla). I enjoyed smelling it all day and it intrigued me enough to read the tri-fold brochure they left with that candle.

My wife, Rhonda, and I have been involved with other network marketing programs in the past with NO success but for some reason this opportunity intrigued me. The product was incredible and I knew that people enjoy burning candles every day.

I took the information home to Rhonda to see what she thought and wanted to know if she was open to the idea of us getting involved in network marketing again. I then called Julie and scheduled a time to meet her that night and learn more about this opportunity.

I really was sold on this opportunity before I even got to Julie's house, but, she did a great job of reinforcing my decision. I signed Rhonda and myself up when I got home and we have been working our business in our spare time ever since.

Rhonda has really taken off with this opportunity and has been meeting all kinds of people during the past couple of months doing flea markets, retail sales in antique shops as well the good ole' smell and sell technique in local shops that she frequents.

We have been very pleased with how things have been going thus far and I want to tell everyone how important it is to have belief in the company and people you ar working with. Scent-sations has been a pleasure to work with and even though there may be a growing pain here and there as with any growing company they have been fantastic in handling any issue that may arise. I also know believe a strong up line increases your chances for success and we have been very fortunate to have a wonderful up line starting with Curtis and Julie Nielsen. They have been nothing short of awesome and there for us every step of the way.

Scent-sations, thank you for this wonderful opportunity to mix business with pleasure. “

12 Year Old is Showing the Scents & Making the Dollars!

mim pardoMimi Pardo is 12 years old but that didn't stop her from investigating a good business opportunity when it was “right under her nose!”

“My dad takes care of a boat and while he was doing some work on it Debbie Campa (whose boat is parked nearby) walked over and saw me and asked me if I liked candles.

I told her I LOVE candles! She then started telling me about this new type of candle called Mia Bella. She gave me some samples along with a pamphlet and told me all about the money making opportunity that was available.

I got very excited about this took all the information to my mom and told her that I wanted to get involved in the business. She went online to Debbie's scent-team website and was impressed with every thing she saw. She became a distributor so I could work with Mia Bella's candles.

Within a week I had booked my first “home party” and I earned over $300. I've put over $1,000 in my savings account with profits earned, have signed two distributors into my downline and have been talking to the local 4-H Group about a fundraiser!

At the home party I give them order forms that also have the following typed on it:

* Are You Interested in Making Money?
* Are You Interested in Becoming a Candle Program Member?

From that one home party I've booked several others and the profits have been unbelievable!

I love this and I really appreciate that someone like Debbie Campa is not afraid to approach even a “12-year old girl” about these wonderful products!”
-Mimi Pardo, FL

(Corporate Note: As we were preparing this newsletter Mimi called to tell us that she and her mom visited a car dealership last week to look at cars. They started talking to the sales rep about the candles and he told them to bring some in when they came back. “We took in 2 cases of candles, sold 10 jars right on the spot and took orders from 3 others. We were told that when we return with the other orders to bring more candles because there were more ladies on the 2nd floor who will want to buy some candles too!”)

(A NOTE FROM Mimi’s Mom: "Mimi has been in the company for only one month!!! This is her first months story! She sold over $600.00 at the car dealership in only 30 minutes of "work"!! She got a "YES" on a fundraiser that she presented on Monday!! She booked another open house party for next week!!! She has had a great week! She has $1500 in her account!! We are a little bit excited!!!!" -Cathy Pardo

Angie Rodgers-WrightAngie Rodgers-Wright was featured in the Suburban News, a Northeastern Pennsylvania Newspaper. The story was all about her fundraising efforts using Mia Bella Soy/Veg Candles.

"The fundraiser, held in behalf of a missing person, earned the group over $1,000 " said Angie.

Distributors of the Month: Sue & Randy Tonniges

sue & randy tonnigesIf anyone had told us two and a half months ago, that we would be in the candle business today, we would have told them they were crazy! Well, that's what these past weeks have been for us, a wild and crazy ride!

Our good friends, John and Lise MacFadden, introduced us to a business which has made big changes in our lives.

We started the business for the sole purpose of doing good friends a favor. They were so excited about this new and different soy candle! They said we just had to take a look...and better yet, a smell. We were hooked! I loved the smells. My husband, Randy, could see the income potential that this business had to offer. Beside that, he raises soybeans on our farm. Why not support the American farmer for a change!

I own a beauty salon so I thought I could try to retail the candles there. I got my first case and put them on display and hardly had to draw any attention to them at all! Everyone was attracted to the brilliant colors and that they were something new, a soy product. When they'd ask about them I'd pull the lids off, put them under their noses and say, “What do you think?” I sold over half of them in the first day! I sold three the next day…in a town of 200 people!

Since the day we were introduced to this opportunity, we were determined to make the business work for us. One thing that made the big difference was the support we received from our sponsors, Lise and John.

They took time from their busy schedule to travel from Canada to Nebraska, a place they had never been, to spend a week coaching and mentoring us. We can never thank them enough for what they've done for us and the sacrifices they made. John even survived the famous Nebraska Runza sandwich, cabbage and all!

That's really what makes this business work. Anyone can sign up a distributor, but a sponsor leads by example. You have to be willing to do whatever it takes to help everyone to get what they want out of this business. As Randy says, “When you make money, we make money!”

We've had a lot of fun just sharing these beautiful candles with others and signing up distributors along the way. This truly is a “smell and sell” business! Randy is great at getting a candle under the nose of everyone he meets. When we go to a restaurant to eat, he often takes a candle in under his arm, takes off the lid and sets it in the middle of the table, waiting for someone to make a remark about the smell. They always do!

He asked a lady sitting at the next table if she'd had her desert yet. When she said “no”, he handed her a Hot Apple Pie candle and said “well, smell this!” She bought that one and another too!

Our goal was to get to Diamond. Well, we did reach that but we've only just begun to build our business. It really hasn't been that difficult. It's just a matter of getting this candle in front of people. If they smell it, they will either be a customer or a distributor for you.

We are meeting so many great people while working with Scent-Sations. People we would have never met otherwise. We already have one personally sponsored distributor that has become a Diamond distributor and another who is well on her way to that goal. We'd like them all to get to the Diamond level and well beyond!

Everyone is looking for an opportunity for a better way of life. Mia Bella is a ground floor opportunity that is affordable for everyone. An awesome product coupled with a great business opportunity…what more could you ask?

We are really glad that John and Lise thought of us when they decided to build their front line in Scent-Sations!

Randy & Susie Tonniges, NE
